What is the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill?

The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill is an anti-gravity treadmill that uses space-age technology to reduce the user’s body weight by up to 80%. It uses a precise air calibration system to detect an individual’s body weight and reduce the impact on the lower extremities. This allows patients to improve their mobility and speed with less strain on their body.

How does the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill Work?

The individual is zipped into an air chamber on the treadmill and, once the machine inflates, the bubble of air will support the individual’s body and offload their weight, allowing them to practice walking and running while their legs feel weightless. From there, the physical therapist can then adjust the amount of body weight being offloaded, as well as control the treadmill’s speed and incline, just like a standard treadmill.

What Diagnoses is the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill Appropriate for?

The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill is an appropriate intervention for individuals with a spinal cord injury, a stroke, knee or hip replacements, back surgery, joint injuries, running-related injuries, or neurological conditions like Multiple Sclerosis.
