Alyssa Dillard, MS, CCC-SLP, CBIS, is a speech-language pathologist and team lead at Sheltering Arms Institute’s Reynolds outpatient center. She graduated with her undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders from James Madison University before completing her master’s program in speech-language pathology at Appalachian State University.
Alyssa joined the Sheltering Arms Institute team in July 2017 and immediately became interested in the concussion program. She enjoys working with this population and has seen such a benefit in how speech-language pathology can benefit patients who have experienced a concussion. She is able to assist with impairments such as daily tasks of attention, memory, word finding, and finding strategies to assist with coping with current impairments.
She has a rescue dog, Isley, and rescue cat, Larry, with her husband. She has presented at the American Congress for Rehabilitative Medicine (ACRM) on concussion. In her spare time, you can find her in the kitchen trying new recipes, taking long walks, or participating in training sessions with her dog!
