Using the Matheson System, functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) are objective and comprehensive tests of current functional abilities and limitations as it relates to returning to work.
Providing a measurement of impairment based on severity of injury, in accordance with current American Medical Association guidelines.
A full-day, goal-oriented, return-to-work program consisting of, on average, 4-hour sessions based on specific job descriptions and focused on work task simulation, functional strengthening, biomechanics, and education to promote back-to-work safety and self-management.
Based on an “industrial athlete” model, work conditioning allows individuals to build up their physical conditioning and rehabilitate their job-specific tasks through half-day sessions.

The length of outpatient therapy for work injuries varies from person to person depending on factors such as the number of visits authorized and recommendations by the patient’s physician or physical therapist; however, patients can typically expect therapy to last between 2-6 weeks. Your physical therapist will work with you to develop a customized and effective treatment plan to help you achieve your best recovery.
The primary differences between work hardening and work conditioning are the length of the day and intensity.
