This education series explores how assistive technology empowers individuals to control their surroundings, enhancing independence and quality of life. This series will cover devices, troubleshooting, introduction to user training and funding options to ensure effective use of the highlighted device.

This session will provide practical strategies for troubleshooting assistive technology across both low-tech and high-tech solutions. The session will cover best practices for identifying issues, implementing quick fixes, resources to use and knowing when to seek further technical support.

Matter of Balance (Class Series)

A Matter of Balance (MOB) is specifically designed to reduce the fear of falling and improve activity levels among community-dwelling older adults. The program includes eight two-hour classes presented to a small group of 8-12 participants led by trained coaches. The program enables participants to reduce the fear of falling by learning to view falls as controllable, setting goals for increasing activity levels, making small changes to reduce fall risks at home, and exercise to increase strength and balance.

Caregiver Safe Space Support Meeting

Sheltering Arms Institute 2000 Wilkes Ridge Drive, Richmond, VA, United States

We know that caregivers are an integral part of our patients’ recovery, that’s why we’ve established Safe Space support meetings to offer advice, compassion, and resources. Our goal is to provide caregivers the opportunity to express their feelings, learn helpful information, and realize they are not alone and help connect with others who have gone through a similar experience.
