The Armeo Power is an advanced robotic motorized arm orthosis that supports the weight of a person’s arm and is designed to contribute to arm rehabilitation. It helps patients regain arm and hand function by enabling intensive, repetitive, and highly targeted therapy.
Unlike the Armeo Spring, the Armeo Power uses robotic assistance to guide and support the arm through a range of therapeutic movements. It is equipped with sensors and software that adapt to an individual’s performance. It allows individuals to engage in interactive movements and game-like exercises that are displayed on a screen, making therapy more engaging.
The system can adjust the level of support based on the user’s strength and coordination, allowing for personalized, progressive training, which assists in helping patients return to meaningful activities like dressing and bathing themselves, playing games with their family, cooking, and more. The Armeo Power can also be used to provide passive range of motion and mobilization of the arm and hand.
The Armeo Power is ideal for individuals experiencing moderate to severe impairment in arm and hand movement, particularly due to neurological conditions. Common diagnoses that benefit from Armeo Power therapy include stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis (MS), cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, and other neuromuscular disorders.
Sheltering Arms Institute offers the Hocoma Armeo Power at our main campus in Short Pump.
