  • MyLife Assistive Technology Educational Series: Switches

    This education series explores how assistive technology empowers individuals to control their surroundings, enhancing independence and quality of life. This series will cover devices, troubleshooting, introduction to user training and funding options to ensure effective use of the highlighted device.

    This session will provide a look at switch-access technology, a vital tool for individuals with mobility limitations to access and control devices such as computers/tablets, phones, etc. The session will include a hands-on opportunity to trial various switches, allowing participants to experience their functionality and adaptability firsthand.

    Do you live with diabetes or know someone who does? Sheltering Arms Institute, in partnership with The SPAN Center, are offering a 6-week evidence-based diabetes education class. Adults with diabetes, friends, family members, and caregivers are welcome to participate.

  • Matter of Balance (Class Series)

    Matter of Balance (Class Series)

    A Matter of Balance (MOB) is specifically designed to reduce the fear of falling and improve activity levels among community-dwelling older adults. The program includes eight two-hour classes presented to a small group of 8-12 participants led by trained coaches. The program enables participants to reduce the fear of falling by learning to view falls as controllable, setting goals for increasing activity levels, making small changes to reduce fall risks at home, and exercise to increase strength and balance.
